fight for our lives

We’re in the middle of unprecedented, intersecting crises with massive human costs. And instead of figuring out how to align with popular movement demands like a Green New Deal, Medicare for All, and defunding police to reinvest in care — which reflect real needs of the masses — establishment Democrats are blaming the left for their own losses.

On the weekend of December 12, our coordinated actions will help shift the national narrative. DSA chapters around the country are calling on legislators to change course, and not consign us to climate catastrophe and working class misery.

We’re fighting for a COVID-19 and economic recovery response that centers the working class and can serve as a launchpad for the decade of the Green New Deal.

We are asking our members to call Lois Frankel & Alcee Hastings offices this Monday (12/14) and demand that they support these legislative efforts immediately. You will most likely speak to a staff person or get a voicemail, so it’s ok to leave a message.

Call Lois Frankel’s office and ask her to support the Green New Deal at (561) 998-9045

fight for our lives demands

A) Support Immediate COVID-19 Crisis Relief (including $2,000 per month for all)

Rent is due, food bank lines are around the block & COVID cases are spiking. We urge you to support COVID relief that includes $2,000 a month for families to get through this crisis.

B) The Green New Deal (H.R. 109)

The Green New Deal will create the biggest wave of new union jobs in a century through a Job Guarantee. Fighting the climate crisis will take everyone we have–let’s make sure everyone can be part of the solution.

C) The PRO Act (H.R. 2474)

The Protecting the Right to Organize (PRO) Act, is a historic piece of legislation that will put power in the hands of workers and reverse decades of legislation meant to crush unions. This bill will completely change labor law as we know it and shift power away from CEOs to workers.

D) The Healthcare Emergency Guarantee Act (H.R. 6906)

Even before the coronavirus pandemic, 87 million Americans were uninsured or under-insured. That number is rapidly escalating as millions of workers are not only losing their jobs, but also their employer-based health insurance – showing the fragility of tying health insurance to employment. Over 12 million Americans have become unemployed and therefore uninsured during the pandemic.

The Health Care Emergency Guarantee Act (H.R. 6906) will ensure that all people can receive care during this crisis without fear of crushing medical debt and the harassment of debt collectors.
