Steering Committee Announcement

Caitlynne P. was elected as secretary with 16 out of 30 votes.

Statement:

“I’m running for secretary because I believe our steering committee needs leaders who are both deeply rooted in our community and ready to fight. I live and organize here because my child is in our local schools, my job is in our local economy, and as a head of household I feel the daily squeeze of capitalism while raising the next generation. That lived experience grounds me in the struggles working families across Palm Beach and the Treasure Coast are facing.

I bring both continuity and experience — I’ve served on steering before, and I’ve spent a lifetime organizing across different movements. I also bring strong ties with aligned local organizations that can strengthen our chapter’s reach and impact. As chair of the Membership Committee, I know how critical it is that our steering work translates into real chapter growth and member retention. We can’t afford to lose people to burnout or disconnection; we need to activate working families and single parents around the fights that show how fascism is destroying our lives — and build collective power to win.

I want to serve as secretary not just to take minutes and ensure documentation is in compliance with the state and larger organization, but to help steer our chapter toward being a force that’s both rooted in our communities and fearless in struggle.”

-Caitlynne P.

Proposed Campaign: Palm Beach People’s Heath and Justice Platform

Why Palm Beach?

Palm Beach County sits at the frontline of climate collapse and economic inequality. Billionaire wealth exists alongside food deserts and unsafe working conditions. Rising heat, fragile infrastructure, and privatized health systems threaten the lives of working people.

Our campaign treats public health, mobility, and food not as charity, but as public goods and a site of power-building. By organizing around material needs (shade, food, and safe transit) we build a movement for justice and democracy that connects Palm Beach to global struggles against climate apartheid and extractive capitalism.

This platform is aligned with DSA’s Building for Power (B4P) framework and the vision of Progressive International. It is currently pending approval scheduled for the next general meeting. Contact Priscilla Otero Guerra more details.

🎨 🖌 Logo Design Contest

We’re looking for a new chapter logo that reflects our values, energy, and identity as the Palm Beach County chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America. This logo will be used on social media, t-shirts, banners, flyers, and more, so we want it to be flexible, striking, and proudly socialist.

Whether you’re a seasoned designer or a creative comrade with a vision, we want to see your take!

NOTE: We voted to extend the deadline at the last meeting for submissions. There is a potential name change to Chapter as well that will affect design submissions. More info to come after next meeting.

Submission Deadline: Sep. 13, Please send submissions to info@palmbeachdsa.org with the subject line “Logo Design Submission”.

🤝 🌹 Membership Committee

We’re building a socialist base in Palm Beach County—and we want you to be part of it. Join our Membership Committee to make membership work a sustained and strategic part of our chapter’s core activity. This includes:

  • Onboarding and welcoming new members with intention and care
  • Growing and sustaining our base through outreach and engagement
  • Building a culture of belonging, accessibility, and political community
  • Strengthening the infrastructure that keeps people connected and coming back

We know that a strong socialist movement starts with strong relationships—and that begins with how we bring people in and keep them engaged.

Whether you’re a longtime member or newly joined, this is a chance to give feedback, share your vision, and help shape how our chapter lives its values.

Let’s make our chapter a political home for everyone who wants to build power together. Please attend a general meeting or contact the steering committee for more details.
