Every year, billions of tons of waste are piling up on our planet. With an increasingly warm world, rising sea levels, and the destruction of rainforests, the climate crisis is among the most salient issues of today. The Environmental Committee is focused on shifting the ways we think about and interact with our world through in person readings of eco-socialist texts and by organizing monthly activities centered on addressing environmental problems in our local area. The current economic model is centered on unrestricted growth, more production, more consumption. But if we move away from the prevalent consumer culture and refocus on degrowth, we can decrease the waste produced each year, slow the rampant consumption of resources and ensure a livable world for generations to come.
